Here’s a great recipe for a mix of fresh grapefruit juice with carrots and apples. Make it in your juicer or even your blender!
- 1 whole Grapefruit
- 1 whole Apple
- 2 whole Carrots
Cut the grapefruit in half, then into quarters. Peel the skin off each piece, trying to remove the white chewy section as you peel it. First place it in the blender.
Cut the apple and remove the seeds. We leave the skin on and cut into 1-2 inch cubes. Place it in your blender on top of the grapefruit.
Cut the ends off the carrots and peel them (optional), then cut them into 1-inch or smaller pieces. Add carrots to blender and blend for 1-2 minutes.
If necessary, have your tamper nearby. With our Vitamix, we never need it, but depending on your specific blender, you can. You can also add 1/4 cup of water if things don’t mix well, but we never need to do that.
Use a kitchen towel, 4-5 layers of cheesecloth, or a bag of nut milk to strain the juice. Place the fabric over a large mixing bowl and pour the juice into the bag of nut milk. Squeeze and twist gently to slowly push out the juice while leaving the pulp behind. If you squeeze too hard or too aggressively, more pulp will leak out of the bag. If you’re using a cheesecloth or tea towel, I find it’s best to layer the material over a sieve before pouring in the juice.
It is best consumed immediately or within 24 hours when stored in the refrigerator.
