Here’s a delicious recipe to serve at your next potluck or family gathering. Not your usual cream casserole.
- 32 ounces, weight Frozen green beans, whole
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 16 ounces, weight Fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup Onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons All purpose flour
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
- ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoons Freshly ground pepper
- ⅓ cups Flaked almonds
Microwave green beans according to package directions. Transfer to a serving platter.
Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat the oil and butter. Add mushrooms and onion and sauté until tender, 4 to 6 minutes. Stir in flour, then slowly add milk, stirring until thickened, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in thyme, salt and pepper.
Pour over green beans and garnish with slivered almonds.
