Million Dollar Bacon is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. This bacon goes well with any breakfast and even a cold beer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Thick sliced bacon
  • 6 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Cayenne pepper
  • ½ tablespoon Red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp Maple syrup, for drizzling (optional)

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine brown sugar and spices. Lay the bacon out flat on a baking sheet. Put a generous amount of the sugar and spice mixture on the bacon. Press into bacon. Flip the bacon and repeat the process.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes.

Note: Be sure to watch the bacon towards the end of the cooking time. You don’t want the sugar to burn. Caramelizing is fine, but burning is not. Keep an eye on it for the last few minutes. The maple syrup drizzle at the end is an option. I happen to like it hot and I don’t, but try it both ways and see what you like. Use real maple syrup.
