Hi My name is Kyle Greene and I am the creator of Lets Get Cooking. Lets Get Cooking is the worlds first of its kind interactive online cooking class! Our aim is to teach youth and adults of all ages the importance of nutrition and the long-term benefits as well as how to make healthy delicious gourmet meals from scratch!
My health and fitness journey started when I was in my early 20's. My lack of knowledge on healthy foods that are good for us and why, as well as how to have a healthy relationship with food, had put me in a very unhealthy state. So much so that I was afraid of what might happen to me if I had to really exert myself physically. I knew it was time for a real change, and I couldn't allow myself to live that way any longer. So I decided to do something about it. I joined a gym, and after a couple of months I started to see some results, but something inside me said that wasn't enough. It was time to hit the books. One article led to another, and another, and before I knew it, I was researching for hours a day, trying to soak up as much information as I could about how to eat healthy and how to use that information to become a healthier me. It quickly snowballed into a passion and I spent the next 12 years devoting myself to my health and wellness, and the health and wellness of others.
I went on to become a personal trainer and helped people with their health and wellness goals but it wasn't enough. I felt like I wasn't making as large of an impact as I wanted to. Then Covid happened and changed the lives of everyone all over the world. Some changes were worse than others but I started to notice a trend. Not only were nutritional related morbidities already at an all time high before these tragic events, but it seemed things were only trending to get worse. With limited access to restaurants and grocery stores, and being locked indoors, many turned to food delivery services and unhealthy options as a go to and the norm for weekly meals. With everything changing so rapidly I also took into consideration that most of us were stuck at home now cooking meals for ourselves and families at a higher rate that had ever been seen before, and many of those people didn't know how to cook. Which meant they were still reaching for unhealthy options like boxed foods loaded with preservatives. I saw this not only as a opportunity to help others and share my wealth of cooking and health-and-wellness knowledge, as well as help put an end to nutrition related illnesses, but also as an opportunity to help bring families together for meals at a time that has never been so crucial to bring people back together. For all of these important reasons I decided to create Lets Get Cooking. I thought, what better time than now when families are together at home and keeping our immune systems in good health is more important than ever, to come up with a series of classes where we teach the basics of nutrition and the importance of eating healthy as well as learning how to cook delicious healthy home-made meals from scratch that your whole family will enjoy. All while spending quality time with family and bonding together with a fun activity that also tastes good!
Since the beginning we have launched over 20 different cooking sessions with kids and adults and have had so many successful and heart warming stories about how we have helped families in a time of need come together, that it has been truly amazing to be a part of. Between 9 - 11 year old students cooking full dinners for their families and helping take a load off their parents, and the sheer joy of seeing the amazing work from the students, it has been an absolute blessing to provide this class, and I genuinely hope to share these classes with your family and the rest of the world.
