Kitchen is the center of the whole house. The majority of events and decisions take place in the kitchen. However, with the coming new year, the appearance of the kitchen is also changing. Granite countertops and dark wood cabinets are already starting to look a little tasteless. If you’re thinking about modernizing or renovating your kitchen (or just enjoying browsing!!!), here are 5 top trends for modern and contemporary kitchens in 2016. The best part is the fact that some of these trends don’t require a lot of money. You can combine them in your present kitchen without spending too much money.

1. Wooden mouldings

Modern yet warm wooden moldings, they are the best of both worlds. White and wood are the most upcoming trend of the approaching year.

From traditional crown molding, stacked crown to bottom molding and applied moldings, hardwood is all the way in. It’s affordable, has a great finish and is a sound insulator. great heat. A perfect wood for the kitchen, wooden molds are the way to decorate the kitchen as they are non-toxic and easy to install.

Good detailing, coating and maintenance ensure that wooden structures last a lifetime. Although, oak and ash are also good choices (for the floor) but hardwood is perfect to enhance the look of your cabinets and kitchen.

2. Subway tiles

Since the beginning of the current year, subway tiles have become fashionable and are not showing any signs of flagging. Subway tiles are sure to provide your kitchen with an exquisite and time-honored look that goes perfectly with the contemporary appliances and furniture of modern kitchens.

You can even try something a little off the beaten path, try a dark grout option, or maybe go for a beveled one as it gives the tile an additional bit of depth. Also, it makes your kitchen tiles easier to clean. Therefore, with subway tiles, your kitchen will not only have a chic vintage look but will also remain spic and span.

3. Marble countertops

Although, marble has a reputation for being a bit high maintenance, but if you are and can make the effort, they really look magnificent together with the white and black cabinets that are so popular at the moment. (It’s also equally striking with black cabinets.) Because it’s a natural material, like wood, marble is wonderful for adding some visual texture to a modern kitchen.

4. Open shelving

A very controversial but very popular trend, Open Shelving is perfect if you have either grown children or live in a house full of adults. Open shelves require premium quality wooden shelves with chic elegance.

Advantages: It makes a small kitchen look bigger. Also, it’s a perfect way to put all your exquisite things on display without being a show-off.

Disadvantages: Plastic pitch cups and souvenir pint glasses will have to be put away in the lower cupboards.

All you have to do is open your cabinet doors and see what it looks like. You can decide to go “soft” by replacing the cabinet doors with glass front doors, or trade one section of cabinetry with shelves to display the beautiful things.

5. Two-tone cabinets

Painting the upper and lower cabinets a different but complementary color keeps things exciting and is a totally easy DIY renovation.

Trends are hard to follow and sometimes they just confuse you, but if you find your way, then you will not only have a fantastic and trendy kitchen, but one that all your friends will be jealous of.
